My intention, in creating this website, has been to provide relevant information on daily life in West Vegas to
old-timers and newcomers alike - as well as to people in other cities who wish to keep up with the everyday
happenings in this unique desert environment. Never before has a city grown so fast and modern in such
a formerly hostile landscape. This website's intent is to chronicle the past, the present and future of
the Las Vegas residential phenonmena. As an earth scientist and photographer my objective is to show
and tell - whoever might care - what I observe and learn in my everyday life in the westside of Las Vegas.
My only aim is to help people understand this futuristic community. Las Vegas has become much more than
a tourist mecca. It is now a fast moving, metro-suburbanopolis - growing exponentially. To exisit here
a person has to quickly learn how this new city functions. I've done my best to provide whatever information
might be helpful, such as the links just below. I've placed a few advertisements around this site also, though
my intentions aren't actually commercial. Like I said. I am simply showing my everyday observations with
the hope that it sheds a more realistic light on a place that over a half million people now consider their
home. There are a zillion Las Vegas websites trying to sell people airplane tickets or telling when to split
eights, hit aces or what type of poker face to wear. This website isn't one of them. WestVegas.com is
simply a guide to the everyday community I proudly call my home. I hope it helps someone along the way.

Sincerely. Your webhost - Erik Wunstell.

View of the remodeled Flamingo Casino (from 1953) showing the new, cylinder shaped, Champagne Tower with
its circular, neon bubbles. In 1966 Caesars Palace would be built across the street. The Dunes and then the
Bellagio would later be built diagonally across from the Flamingo - off in the distance - just beyond the tower.
