Life on the Strip

Las Vegas Photo-Walking with Erik Wunstell

I went 'photo-walking' on Halloween Night. I started at Treasure Island...

then walked out to the West Strip Sidewalk and crossed the (TI-VEN ) Strip Bridge over to the Venetian.
The north Gondola Pool area of the Venetian is historic ground.
The Sands Casino was located at this exact Gondola spot for over 40 years.

When I walked off the bridge from TI into Venetian, I suddenly had three choices:
I could walk up to the Venetian Shops, or walk down the stairs to see the Gondola Pool, or turn right
and walk the Columnade-Promenade that runs across the face of the building (mid-left in photo).
This route takes you to the Bridge of Sighs and leads into Madame Toussad 's Wax Museum
or the walkway back onto the East Strip Sidewalk (at Denny's, Outback Steakhouse
and Casino Royal) across from the Mirage Volcano.

This is one of the best places in Las Vegas for a romantic stroll (along with the Bellagio, Wynn, Mirage & Paris).

I walk alone so, I decided to see the Venetian Shops instead.

Then I walked over to the Tao Nightclub, in the Venetian. It was still early, so not many people were there, except for...

I looked through the columns to see the Gondola Boat Dock where the old Sands Casino once Stood.
The Mirage Volcanic Eruption can be seen well from here, so it is - (Rated: Good Strip Viewpoint).

I kept walking the Promenade and crossed the Bridge of Sighs. While on the moving sidewalk a man
kept staring at me as I moved closer towards him. He wouldn't break his gaze or eye contact and I
figured I had trouble ahead. Finally the sidewalk ends five feet in front of him and he's still staring at me.
And he looks like Simon from American Idol. Eventually I figured it was a wax figure so I spent
about three minutes looking at him and Joe Montana, on open display. The inside of the wax museum.
looks like a lot of fun and the celebrity fugures are very realistic. (Rated: Good Exhibit).

Continuing on - for a few more steps towards the Strip, I looked over at the far driveway where
the Sands used to be. This is another Good Strip Viewpoint. The Treasure Island - Venetian Bridge
can be seen, over the Strip, in the distance. There are 12 Strip Bridges. The strategic use of
these bridges is the key to good Strip-Walking. The TI-VEN Bridge is short and gets you inside the
Venetian quickly - close to the the Shops, Tao Nightclub, the Gondolas, Casino and Food Court.
The TI-VEN Bridge allows fast access to the Venetian, Treasure Island, Mirage, Casino Royale,
Dennys, Outback, Alleyway Food Court, Harrahs, Carnival Court and Forum Shop's Street Entrance.
(Bridge Rating: 5 Stars).
